Your Kindness Makes a Difference!
In July 2010, the kindness of sponsors and donors made a free camp for 35 student-athletes possible. This summer, we will provide 80 student-athletes with sports, SAT/ACT, and life-skills training on the Northeast Texas Community College campus from July 11-15, 2011 and Michigan State University campus from July 18-22, 2011. In an effort to minimize costs, 4th and 1 has formed strategic partnerships with education and business leaders across Texas and Michigan. Accordingly, every dollar donated goes further.
How do your donations help? Here are a few examples:
SAT/ACT Verbal and Math classes:
- $15: Purchases 100 #2 pencils for students to use during SAT/ACT diagnostic exams
- $25: Purchases one Kaplan SAT/ACT review guide
- $50: Enables one student-athlete to take the SAT/ACT for free
- $500: Enables ten student-athletes to take the SAT/ACT for free
- $2,000: Purchases one Kaplan SAT/ACT review guide for every 4th and 1 student-athlete in 2011
Football training:
- $20: Purchases one jersey for one student-athlete to use during practice
- $1,600: Purchases 80 jerseys for student-athletes to use during practice
Workshops (e.g. money management, cooking, resume writing, interview skills, sewing, college admissions, sports broadcasting):
- $10: Purchases one box of dry erase markers for teachers to use during their lessons
- $1,000: Covers photocopying expenses associated with making handouts for students
- $5,000: Covers airfare for 10 workshop teachers who are flown in from across the country to spend a week volunteering
Room & Board-East Texas:
- $4,800: Covers dorm fees for all 4th and 1-East Texas student-athletes
- $4,800: Covers on-campus meals for all 4th and 1-East Texas student-athletes
Room & Board-East Lansing, MI:
- $2,720: Covers dorm fees for all 4th and 1-East Lansing student-athletes
- $4,600: Covers on-campus meals for all 4th and 1-East Lansing student-athletes
